Security processes are a way of mitigating the risks. Network security products will have flaws; a process is necesary both to catch attackers exploiting those flaws, and fixing the flaws once they become known. Insider attacks will occur; a process is necessary to detect the attack, repair the damage, and prosecute the attacker. Large systemwide flaws will compromise entire products and services (think cell phones, think DVD); a process is necessary to recover from compromise and stay in business. Counterintelligence is the only way to stay abreast of what's really going on. Insurance will handle the residual risk.
None of this is easy, and it all require experts. And as more and more aspects of our lives move into cyberspace, the demand for cyberspace security (and hence the demand for these experts) increases. The only workable solution is to leverage these experts as much as possible.
Outsourcing is the only way to do this efficienctly.
