My educational background is in music, having attended both the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes College of Music in New York City during the eighties. Since that time, my life has gone in many different and unexpected directions, but one thing that has remained constant is my passion for language.

Being a creative person and one who would rather make things happen than sit around waiting, I have been a small business owner three times over. My first venture at age 25 was an event planning service in New York. When I moved to California in 1990, the limitations of the job market prompted me to start my own gardening and housecleaning service. Once employment opportunities improved, I embarked on a seventeen-year career in the QSR industry, working my way up in the space of four years from a delivery driver to an assistant manager to a store manager and, in 1995, a franchise owner/operator in Grand Terrace, Ca.

After six years of double-digit positive sales, in 2001 I sold my unit for almost three times its purchase price to another franchisee who owned many of the neighboring units and accepted a post as Marketing Director for what would eventually become twenty-one stores. The next seven years were filled with opportunities to learn new skills while refining my existing ones. Meanwhile, my spare time has been devoted to poetry and short prose works (a small volume of which has recently been published), graphic art and maintaining blogs in both English and Spanish versions.

Provengo de un antecedente educativo en la música, con haber asistido a dos escuelas, Manhattan School of Music y Mannes College of Music en la ciudad de Nueva York durante los años ochentas. Después de entonces, la vida me ha llevado en muchas direcciones variadas e imprevistas, pero lo que se ha quedado constante es la pasión que siento para el lenguaje.

Siendo una persona creativa, quien prefiere hacer que las cosas sucedan en vez de sentarse a esperarlas, he sido el dueño de tres pequeñas empresas distintas. La primera, a la edad de 25, era un servicio de planificación de eventos en Nueva York. Cuando me trasladé a California en 1990, las limitaciones del mercado laboral me motivaron fundar un servicio de jardinería y limpieza de casas. Una vez que las oportunidades de empleo se mejoraron, me embarqué en una carrera de diecisiete años en la industria de comida rápida, ascendiendo durante el transcurso de cuatro años desde repartidor a subgerente a gerente de la tienda y, en 1995, hasta el propietario/operador de una franquicia en Grand Terrace, California.

Al haber logrado seis años de aumento de dos dígitos en ventas, en 2001 vendí la unidad a casi tres veces el precio de compra a otro franquiciado, quien era el dueño de muchas unidades vecinas, y acepté un puesto como Director de Publicidades para su compañía que eventualmente constaba de veintiuna tiendas. Los siete años siguientes se llenaban de oportunidades para aprender habilidades nuevas mientras refinaba las existentes. Entretanto, mi tiempo libre se ha devotado a la poesía y breves obras de prosa (una pequeña volumen de las cuales recientemente se lanzó a la publicación), el arte gráfico y el mantenimiento de blogs en versiones inglesas igual que españolas.
