Objective(s):

* On the short run, my objective is to build solid experience in software and systems engineering.
* On the long run, I believe Open Source concepts are a very fertile soil for evloving a revolunary solution for our nation to become really a 'NATION'! so I am concerned about the process of developing a complete legal, cultural, economical, political, religious, social and -of course- technical model for the open source in Islamic and Arabic countries.

Work Experience:
Online Linux administrator and php developer
January 2007 - present

* Load balancing linux web servers and implementing MySQL replication and file sync between them
* Monitoring the servers for solving production problems and preventing attacks that happened
* Customization and installation of a youtube-like video sharing solution.
* Migrating some of our clients websites' content from the CMS they are using to another CMS (mainly Joomla or drupal) and applying necessaery changes to keep the data intact
* Finding various open source tools for our internal use either project managers, developers, testers etc.
* Still Maintaining current website and developing new features in www.20at.com as a project in the company I am working in
* Responsible for choosing hosting plans that fit projects' needs, and managing these accounts.

January 2004 - December 2006

* Developing a CMS from scratch to fit the editors' needs, and migrate from an old version to this new version.
* Making a new version of the CMS to avoid some security holes, enhancing the usability of the CMS and adding more user-friendly functionalities.
* Making Speical pages (nested websites) to fit some events.
* Migrating from a previous CMS they used (phpws) to the newly developed CMS i made.

Freelancing projects
2004 - 2006

* mecweb.cc : the 2004 version, it is now replaced with a new version made by someone else.
* 3agaby.com : a website made by youth for youth (update: the editors left the site and it is no more available).

* Very good knowledge about GNU/Linux "GNU/Debian, Red Hat, CentOS, fedora, ubuntu, Mandrake, slackware, SUSE, knoppix, backtrack" :
o Installation

o Installing software packages (either using package management tools or by compiling the source)
o I use a dual GNU/Debian and ubuntu as my desktop OS
* Good knowledge about Microsoft Operating Systems.
* Fair knowledge about Mac OS (it is a *nix family descendant so theoritically i should be familiar with it ;))

Was an active member in the Sea Scout in anearby club:

* Was envloved in organizing many camps and events, some were nationwide, and a few international camps.
* Trained small and new scouts on camping, sealing and other scouting skills.
* I was a Captain when i left the scout movement because i needed more focus on study.

* phpLeaf, a CMS i was building specially tailored for editors. (update : now stopped).
* Learno, a protesting platform i am developing for people to learn how to say no, (still under study).
* Preparing for an arabic beginners linux guide, but unfortunately don't have enough time to complete it.

o FOSS and FLOSS, I love to dig and search for open source applications to fit the needs that arise from time to time.
o Scalability, currently i read about scalibilty issues and how big projects like youtube, wikimedia, amazon, flickr and others are built. I still don't have practical experience applying most of the techniques, but i am quite a good learner.
