Freelance writing has made it possible for me to work from home while raising four children. My writing style is easy to read and concise. I do not add excess words to fill a page. I work with my clients to find what they need. My goal when I am writing is to have my readers 'walk away from' my articles having learned something. I do not want readers to feel as though they have wasted their time reading my work. I have been told that one of my greatest areas of strength is 'the ability to tell something in such a way that not a word is unnecessary and yet more is expressed in those words than most writers are able to do in twice as many.' Meaning I economize words but not expression and personality. I enjoy a challenge and can write on just about any topic. I have written on topics from health and relationships to home improvement and more. I have even helped a client write course outlines and lessons for post graduate computer science majors. If I find at any time that I cannot deliver a high quality article, for whatever reason, I let my client know immediately. I will not attempt to fool a client with sub par work. Writing is my way of teaching without having to set up a classroom or a class schedule. In highschool I thought I wanted a career in teaching or possibly nursing. I took all the appropriate courses and eventually started working in nursing. During my 15 year career as a CNA, CMA, and RA I worked as a team leader for 3 years as well as working in the restorative therapy department for 6 years. I truly enjoyed working with people. Helping people to relearn basic skills such as walking, self care and even to speak again is a feeling I cannot describe. The back pain associated with nursing careers prompted me to return to college in 1999. I recieved my AA in Psychology with a minor in Mathematics from UCC in 2001. I transferred to BYU for Fall 2001 to work towards my BS in Psychology so I could ultimately reach my goal of becoming a college professor and teach Psychology. I took a break from college to have my 4th child in 2003. Back surgery in 2004 put my degree on hold and started me in a new chapter in my life. Freelance writing.
