Mini Project 1
Control of DC Motor using Single Switch
Team Size: 2 Duration: May 2005 – July 2005
Project details:
Generally, in low power applications of DC Motor, in many situations we are using two switches for the control i.e. for clockwise and anticlockwise rotations; ex: Remote motor toys. This is somewhat complicated and the voltage for this operation is not proper. That’s why we designed a circuit that uses only a single switch for a motor in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction and stops it. It provides a constant voltage for proper operation of the motor.
Details of skills: Psim, PSCad
Responsibilities:
• Involved in the production of simple control toys
• Involved in the design of Built-in tape recorders and DVD/Mp3 Players
• Involved in easy relay exciting operations in Integrated Power Systems
Mini Project 2
PC based DC Motor Speed Controller
Team Size: 2 Duration: May 2005 – July 2005
Project details:
This project has been developed with an aim towards achieving a self sufficient and completely independent PC based Control System which can finally be developed with the full fledged professional and Industrial Parallel Port capable of acquiring signals from the simple Interface Circuit. The circuit allows you to control the speed of a DC motor (in eight levels) from your PC’s parallel port. The PC uses a software program to control the speed of the motor.
Details of skills: Programming C, Windows 98
Responsibilities:
• Involved in the implementation of flexible control of DC Motors in Different Power Generation Industries.
Mini Project 3
Direct Torque Control
Team Size: 2 Duration: Nov 2005 – Dec 2005
Project details:
Recently, Direct torque Control or DTC is the most advanced AC Drive Technology in the World. The purpose of this project is to explain what is; why and How it has evolved; the basic theory behind its success; and the features and benefits of this new technology, while trying to be as practical as possible. This project does require a basic understanding of AC motor control principals. In fact, any one using variable speed drives (VSD) and who would like to benefit from VSD technology will move towards this new technology.
Details of skills: Psim, Power World, AC Drive Technology, Fuzzy Logic
Responsibilities:
• It is aimed at decision makers including designers, purchasing managers, and end-users; in all engineering fields such as water, chemical, pulp and paper, power generation, material handling, air conditioning and other industries.
