Greetings, My name is Tom and I am a single man business. I am not trying to pass as anything else. I have a *minimum* of 3-5 hours a day to dedicate to a large job (or small job), and can get done what you want done in a very reasonable amount of time. I have a very solid internet connection, so idle time will never be a valid excuse... but what kind of excuse is valid ;-) So why hire a single person rather than a company? First of all, one person is much easier to pay than a bunch of people. But that's just scratching the surface. Hypothetically speaking, If I got a job on Get A Freelancer, that is the only job I have. I may have some other small thing going on, but for the most part, you have my undivided attention. Also, I need you more than a company does, meaning as I said earlier, less pay, and more time invested into the project. I have to fight to keep you as a customer, whereas a company that is large enough would not be at all affected by a small job because you're only PART of their income. Sure I have a job besides freelancing, but coming home after a hard day's work and solving math problems, programming, and creating scripts is relaxing to me. To be honest, I enjoy programming, mostly in PHP, MySQL, and graphic design because it is the most productive in my opinion. I have over 5 years of experience with advanced programming (PHP and MySQL) so my ability to complete a job is ensured. If PHP, MySQL, and graphic design are my "majors", my "minors" are CSS (4yrs), Perl (2yrs), flash (1.5yrs), .net (1yr), and javascript (1yr). Quite frankly I am also looking to make a little spending money on the side. I do have a job that pays enough to keep up on life so don't worry about me being frugal or cheap. I like to pride myself for my creative thinking when it comes to new ideas for websites or scripts. Feel free to contact me and I can give you the email address to some of my old jobs as referrals.
