2) Premier Automobiles Ltd. (February 1973-February 1990) R & D – Design engineer
General work undertaken

• Preparation of Layouts for various systems, assemblies, and component drawings on drawing board as well as on Auto CAD.
• Working on Design Calculations.
• To guide the Development workshop for Fabrication of components and various assemblies and Building of Prototype.
• Preparation of Bills of Materials.
• Supervision of Production Components and Assemblies of modified designs.

Details of work responsibilities

i) Designing and development of various control systems, which
is steering, brake, clutch and accelerator.
ii) Designing and development of drive system, viz. engine
installation, propeller shaft, and differential gear box, axle shafts, etc.
iii) Designing and development of front and rear suspensions.
iv) Petrol engine modifications: Newly designed oil pump and
water pump.Efficient exhaust manifolds with modified exhaust systems, overhead cam shaft type design to suit hybrid model, new alternator to accommodate engine into suitable engine compartment.
v) Diesel engine modifications: Efficient fuel injection pumps and
modified engine mounts
vi) Button operated gear shifting for a new model car.
vii) Body designing: Designing of station wagon car which included extended chassis, reinforced floor panel, rear door, roof panel, rear fenders, etc.
viii) Designing of testing equipments:
a) Clutch testing machine:- wear and tear of clutch liners on the basis of operating cycles.
b) Gear box testing machine:- wear and tear of gears by gear shifting and operating cycles.
c) Fuel pump, oil pump and water pump testing machines:- failure test for number of hours.
d) Disc brake testing machine:- wear and tear of disc and liners on the basis of operating cycles..

In the above mentioned jobs, my contribution was as follows:
• Preparation of various proposals ( for Commercial vehicles and Passenger cars )
• Finalising the proposal by analysing the design concept.
• Preparation of layouts with design calculations (stress analysis).
• Guiding the team for preparation of components and assembly drawings.
• Guiding the development workshop for building pre-prototype and prototype suitable for manufacturing.
• Accompany the test drive team to analyse and detect manufacturing / designing problems.

3) Worked as Graduate Trainee for 6 months in Western Mechanical Industries (WMI), Bombay.
I was assigned the project of Design and Development of 5 Tonne E.O.T.(Electric Overhead Transport) crane.
