With a college degree in oral and dental medicine, being raised in an almost exclusively English-speaking environment, having worked at a respectable translation and subtitling company, acquiring a TOEFL, an IELTS, and a GMAT certificates, and having been a telemarketer at two international companies dealing with American, British, and Australian customer-bases, English is as much a mother-tongue to me as Arabic is.

And being a computer programmer, a Web designer and a network administrator for more than 8 years, together with a lifelong special interest in both Arabic and English literature, I can honestly say that I’m capable of performing many kinds of linguistic tasks.

The experience I’ve gained through both formal and informal education and work has been a launch pad for translation activities of most kinds, especially the technical, the medical, and the artistic.

Work Experience and History:

1997: Completed a number of computer projects for small, local companies, along with their documentation in both English and Arabic.

1998: Employed as a graphic manipulator and Web designer at Innovative Creations, a marketing agency in Egypt dealing with many respectable trademarks such as Movenpick and Merryland.

2000: Started my own freelance business in the fields of Internet Marketing and e-Commerce, which is still functional till this day.

2001: Worked for Masreya Media, a well-known company in Egypt handling translation and subtitling projects for ART (Arab Radio and Television) and MBC, to name two. Some of the work I did there was:

2001: subtitling of 20 episodes of Will and Grace. (English to Arabic)
2002: subtitling of 48 episodes of Law and Order. (English to Arabic)
2002: subtitling of 15 episodes of Yalla Shabab (Come on, guys), an arabic teen talk-show (Arabic to English)

2003: Took a 2-years time-out to focus on my e-Marketing business and to enrich my knowledge of contemporary and Middle-English literature, as well as keep up-to-date with the latest in the medical and the Information Technology fields.

2005: Employed as a telemarketer and a customer service agent for Vodafone Egypt.

2005: Started working online as a freelance translator in the English-to-Arabic and Arabic-to-English pairs.

2006: Worked as a telemarketer for AmiCo, an Egyptian branch of an overseas company, marketing phone and communication services to a worldwide clientele, namely the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

2006: Completed a translation job of 40,000 words of medical and dental information from English to Arabic, for a university project.

2006: Completed a translation project for Runaware™, promoting its TestDrive service, which involved Microsoft, Citrix, and other prominent names in the IT field.
