Description

The goal of the project is to implement the server-side component(s) for a custom upload facility. I am open to implementing the script as described here or using a better method suggested by the bidder.

I need a script that can be triggered from a PC-resident client program to unzip an archive that is resident on the server. The script will be part of this process:

* PC program creates and uploads ZIP file using FTP
* PC program starts server script
* Server script unzips contents into appropriate directory

The bid should NOT include the PC steps described above.

The script must be secure: only an authorized user who knows a userID and password should be able to use it.

This facility would be used by multiple customers of my web hosting service. I'd prefer that the script be installed once per server but be available to all users. Installing a config file per user is acceptable.

The upload directory will be under the FTP directory but the destination directory will be under the public_html (www) directory.

The zip archive will contain files that belong in the destination directory and in sub-directories of the destination directory.

I am open to using HTTP to upload the ZIP archive. I am open to other alternatives, especially one that is technically superior, or simpler, or better for some other reason.

I hope to find someone who can (A) consult on the basic approach (is there a better way to accomplish the goal?) and (B) implement the server-side component(s).

The server is running Linux & Apache. The hosting service is managed via WHM/cPanel on a dedicated server. I do not have root access but can have software installed or other steps performed if necessary.

I am open to solution based on PHP, Perl, and Ruby. If you have a good reason why it should be done on another platform, please make a suggestion.

I have some other small projects and so there is an opportunity to do those projects, too, if I can establish a good working relationship with someone who has the right skills.

My solution is with php. I need your server info like os,php and web server versions. Also provide me sample zip file so I can test with that. My idea is > User will upload file with my interface. After uploading, the file will be automatically unziped. If you already have your own interface to upload then that interface should trigger my script with the file name.

Dear Sir, I'm proposing a PHP implementation of the server side script along with a user management component. Trying to optimise the process is dependent on the size of archives to upload. If archives are small ones I could easily develop a web application allowing users to upload archives to the server with no third party software (ftp client) only a browser will suffice. If the archives size is high I will use the Ajax technology in order to avoid browser hang-up. I will need permission verification: is the apache process allowed to access the public ftp folder. Yours, KOULALI
