Description

An inexperienced game developer requires a game engine or framework for a J2ME 2D platform game. The game is for fun project/trying out my own platform game sprites and graphics in a realistic game setting. It doesn't need to be written specifically for this project, and your code will remain your own intellectual property and will not used commercially in any way.

Some guidelines of what I'm hoping for:
>Flexible tile engine to display background/foreground tiles, adjustable to different sized tiles, and a scrolling viewpoint in response to main character movement.

>Coded to handle main character sprite movement in response to user input through normal phone gamekeys. Normal platform functionality required, including handle walking left/right, jumping, platforms, ladders, and hills/slopes.

>Finished app will be tested in actual handsets (a Nokia and a Sony Erickson) so if the game view can be scalable for varying handset screen sizes and buttons mapped/configured for different handset makes that’d be an excellent bonus!

>If anyone's clever enough to program a loop-de-loop curved path feature (think Sonic hedgehog loop) that would be amazing! But definitely not a required feature :)

>General professional of coding and overall flexibility and functionality in the game framework is what is most important to me.

>Anything else important I may have forgotten!

The code should be well commented and/or documented to help us follow it, and as easy as possible to use with our own tiles and sprites. And bug free please!
