Description

An API-based shopping/price comparison website; i.e. https://partners.shopping.com/APIProgram.html; I am not interested in building a site that uses bots to crawl merchant sites, accepts data feeds from merchants etc.

I want only the following features:
- Search for products
- Filter search results
- Display selected product (name, picture, description, detailed specs, ratings, reviews etc) as well as list of merchant offers
- Sort merchant offers by price, merchant name and merchant ratings
- Enter zip code and re-calculate prices
- Add/remove and view products in a product comparison grid, preferably using drag and drop
- Ability to sign-in and save a comparison grid of products
- header/footer with logo, sign-up/sign-in, about, privacy/tos, sitemap etc.

Other requirements:
- Linux or OpenSolaris
- No java, jsp, .Net or .asp
- MySQL
- standards compliant XHTML per http://validator.w3.org/
- search engine friendly, automatically updated /sitemap.xml, friendly URLs
- Web 2.0 look & feel: lots of white space, friendly, clean & uncluttered, drag and drop is cool. GOOD = shopzilla.com, zoho.com & google.com; UGLY = shopping.yahoo.com, shopping.msn.com; please don't bid if you aren't good at look and feel.
- preference given to an MVC architecture
- preference given for the use of a framework/CMS such as Drupal, cakePHP and common javascript libraries such as jquery, prototype, script.aculo.us etc

Who should bid:
Developers who have already written a shopping comparison site, preferably one that uses the API of a major vendor such as shopzilla.com, shopping.com etc.

You and your team *must* have done something like this before and your bid should demonstrate this by including one or more working links to the shopping comparison sites you have built; don't bid if you haven't developed a comparison site.

Your bid should:
A) ONLY provide for the above features; do NOT send send me a modified proposal for a previous project
B) include a SHORT URL list that shows me you've done a site like this before and otherwise how well you can do this project; do NOT include a long URL list of all your previous work; I don't have time to look at them

If you don't comply A) and B) then I will conclude that you aren't able to follow directions - which I think you'll agree would be a good reason not to hire you

NOTE:
This bid-request is based upon what I learned from an earlier bid-request

as well as a better understanding of the (limited) income produced by API-driven shopping comparison sites. Since I want a minimal feature-set, I still think it will be worthwhile in terms of ROI to develop this site - but as a price reference, you should be aware of these alternatives:
