What you will be doing!

Strategy:

- Participate as a member of the senior management team in governance processes of the organization's architecture, networks, programming and media in India.
- Create processes of direction and control to ensure objectives are achieved, risks are managed and our development resources are used responsibly.
- Lead strategic technological planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies and products.
- Develop and communicate business/technology/product alignment plans to executive team, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.
- In partnership with our senior management, identify opportunities and risks for delivering our services as a web-based business, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to business success.
- Establish a governance process that meets government, partner, and company expectations for customer information privacy.

Acquisition, Implementation & Deployment:

- Assess and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases as well as develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending, staffing and initiatives.
- Define requirements for new technology implementations and communicate them to key business stakeholders.
- Select and set up a software revision control system and repository.
- Collaborate with senior management and potential customers to develop use cases (or user stories) and specifications that describe the implementation of our services as a web application.
- Collaborate with a User Experience Designer/Information Architect and potential customers to prepare wireframes of prototypes of our web application.
- Select and manage company staff or outsourced vendors who will implement and design the company’s new web technology.
- Further define or redefine our development methodology.
- Establish a specification conformance and testing regimen based on user stories and the User Experience design.
- Institute and monitor technical documentation standards.
- Review our current practices for the selected web framework and reestablish the architecture for the application as needed.
- Establish and supervise the software development process, setting short-term objectives and assessing progress as defined by the selected software development methodology.
- Conduct code reviews and specification conformance testing as defined by the selected software development methodology.
- Establish and supervise a quality assurance department and processes, including integration and system testing.
- Review and approve development releases and manage the release process.
- Supervise deployment to staging and production servers, monitor application performance and review any application failures in staging or production.
- Monitor, and modify as needed, the existing web analytics regime that measures site traffic and application usage relative to business and product goals.
- Support the marketing process by providing implementation of technical requirements for Internet marketing, search engine optimization and analytics.

Operational Management:

- Conduct research to remain knowledgeable in regards to industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and products.
- Hire and manage development team, anticipate needs and issues and measure results.
- Analyze and improve upon technology standards across the organization to maintain a technological and competitive edge within the market.
- Ensure continuous delivery of our services through oversight of service level agreements and monitoring of systems, programs, and equipment performance.
- Ensure equipment and software adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure technology standards and best practices are maintained.
- Ensure company technical problems are resolved creatively, independently and in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all development staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.
- Establish standards of performance and monitor conformance for staff through performance reviews.
- Ensure the company's internal technological processes and customer-facing products and services comply with community expectations and applicable laws and regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility.
- Oversee the evolution and development of our gaming platform infrastructure.

What you need!

- Director of Technology, or other top-level experience having ultimate responsibility for managing and motivating software developers in on-time delivery of consumer facing web based applications utilizing the LAMP stack.
- 10+ yrs experience in a software development or coding environment with experience in open source technologies.
- 5+ yrs experience managing and/or directing technological operations.
- 5+ yrs managing web based software development teams, including interviewing, skill assessment, training, performance reviews, etc.
- 3+ yrs experience with startup companies.
- Excellent understanding of project management principles.
- Proven experience in technology planning, organization, and development.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technology solutions to business problems.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to technology issues.
- References attesting to your record for setting and meeting deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, forecast requirements accurately, and stay within budget while producing and eliciting high-quality results.
- Demonstrated ability to envision web-based products and services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
- Experience coding in more than one currently popular web application framework.
- Familiar with more than one software development methodology.
- Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications.
- Skill with c, C++, CSS, XHTML, Java, and Oracle.
- A strong object orientated background.
- Experience with UNIX system administration and web server configuration.
- Knowledge of Internet protocols and RFC standards, database management systems, and revision control systems.
- Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management.
