Description

I need a program or driver that solves a problem we have when using our USB microphones with Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

When the USB microphone is plugged into a port, Windows automatically changes the default playback and record device. We need to keep this from happening. When Windows changes the default playback audio device to the USB microphone, there is no sound now for the computer (since the mic is just a mic, not speakers or a headset).

There could be multiple ways of solving this such as something as simply as adding entries to the registry that instruct/block Windows from changing the default audio devices when this specific device is plugged in. Or, it could be a program that does this or perhaps a driver (inf) file. Not sure, that's why I need you!

This will be for end-users when they purchase and then install our microphones so please take into consideration that it must work and be tested on multiple configurations (sound cards, systems, etc...)

Please let me know if you have experience in this area and can fix this. Please do not bid if you are unsure. We need this asap.

Program should work with Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

You could create a simple Windows Service which will always return back any change made by this event. So, this Windows Service will record the original settings, once it found the change, it will always return back to the default value. This would be an easier solution.

Hi, I'm a computer engineer and one of my college projects was making a generic usb driver, so I do have some background. However I'm not familiar with one of the O.S. (VISTA)mentioned and I'm worried of a couplde of test cases, so I might need some time to extensivly research this matter.. Overall I will post you back after 12 hrs with extra deatils and I might also change my bid based on a general research. Take care Alex Seif
