Description

I am having a problem with PERL LWP::UserAgent module on windows. The timeout setting does not work as expected. The user agent is stuck if the host it tries to reach is unreachable or does not send any data packet back.

I want to the user agent to have a time out mechanism such that once it is stuck for 30 seconds, then it will terminate the connection and return.

I am using perl 5.8.8 on WIN32 so alarm and other signals are not supported.

I am experienced Perl developer. I have used "LWP::UserAgent" module in a number of projects developed for windows OS. I am confident to fix this problem.

I have met the timeout before and I can provide well commented and nonspecific code to deal with it in a general way.
