Description

We recently had a problem of a possible Trojan horse infection on our website. We think the problem may be tied to one of the sites we link to in our banner rotation. The site to which we link to may be infected and thus causing a problem for our viewers when that link shows up. In this case, it would not be our site that is infected, but one of our partners. This is still a problem because we do not want to send people to sites that can potentially harm their computer.

We would like someone who is experienced dealing with website security give us advice and help us investigate this situation. Please only bid if you are an expert in website security and can help us with this problem.


This was the feedback we recently received about this issue:

It looks like you might have a trojan on your site. I'm not an expert on this but I do work in IT and one of the guys I work with deals with this sort of thing all the time.

The way he explained it to me was that one of your advertisement links may have been hijacked and is trying to download a trojan onto the unlucky viewers computer.

Luckily I am protected from this particular one by Trend OfficeScan.

Trend is labeling this as: TROJ_IFRAME.CP

I had similar problem with some of my clients and I have solution. Of course I need to see it in place to be sure it is what I suppose it is. Can you just provide domain of your site at PMB so I can check and then I can tell you how we proceed.

Hello, Please let me know the domain is hosted in linux server if so provide me the domain name I'll check with it my end. Also please check with in your domain .htaccess file. If you are hosting the domain in linux server you can install mod_security2 to avoid in future. The trojan virus may included via url/sql injections.( like iframes ) Thanks,
