Description

I have a simple 7-page static website describing my small consulting business. You could print it all out in about 10 pages of paper.

The website is online and is good enough for Google to display ads pointing to it, but barely, because it has many HTML errors because it was originally created with some drag-and-drop site builder and then further screwed up when I loaded it into M$FT Word by mistake. One or two pages are so bad that they display HTML fragments when rendered in a browser. I don't have the time or skill needed to rewrite it all in clean and simple code.

Instead of showing my contact email to the world, I'd like a popup that deters spambots from getting that email, which is now forwarded to a free email account that is bombarded with spam.

Other new functionality would be adding a scrollbar on the right because none of the pages have one at present and the reader has to scroll "manually" instead of by dragging scrollbar with mouse.

I'd post the URL but that is not allowed because it has my contact info. I can send you the seven HTML files, one for each page. The website is online now. It has ~10 downloadable documents in a subdirectory, none of them larger than 4 MB, and you can get them from the existing site because the folder they're stored in is World Read. If any of the links to them from the site are broken, I could email you the file as attachment or could send you a direct link to each missing file.

I'd like the new site to be written in very simple HTML that is current standards-compliant for static HTML and want to be able to maintain it myself. Again, nothing fancy is wanted or needed! New site should be hosted in a test directory on one of your servers, including all the downloadable documents. Any dead links you find pointing to external pages should go to a "temporarily unavailable" page instead of the Error 404 Page Not Found browser error. I'd fix those myself. There should be no dead links, and anything pointing to pages that no longer exist should point to an internal page.

Navigation aids are a left-side panel (six choices) with one popup to two choices, making a total of seven accessible pages. There are also text navigation links on the bottom of each page, but some of them are now broken and need to be fixed. I haven't done anything to keep people from viewing the source code and none is needed. A new feature needed are the popup for sending me an email (remember, keep it simple as possible!) and a small amount of spam getting through is acceptable. I don't want to send people a coded hyperlink to verify their email address before they can send me a message. Easiest solution is probably a popup page (with my email hidden somehow) that sends me the email without making them type those six random letters. You will see right away where that mail goes from the current website.

I'd like a simple-to-understand style sheet file so I could change the colors and fonts myself for all pages at the same time. And there's the addition of a scroll bar.

Host the new website in a test directory on your own Linux server so I can see and test it out. When it's accepted as final, you could package it up as a tarball or gzip file with unpacking directions so I could then get it from you by FTP or SSH and then unpack it on my own server. I have SSH access and a shell prompt on my web server and want to do the simple unix stuff to unpack it into a test directory of my own. One reason for me wanting to install it is that I want to do any future maintenance myself and don't want to give anyone else access to be able to change my site.

This might require some back and forth. We can talk and exchange files in realtime with Skype, and/or use email.
