Description

WHAT WE HAVE

We have selected a wordpress theme: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/xeiro that we would like to modify in the manner described in the job description.

We would like to transfer all the content from the site:
http://www.theblogforum.wordpress.com
to the following website:
http://www.theglobalblogforum.com/

JOB DESCRIPTION

THEME DESIGN

Navigation Bar

1) Instead of having the navigation bar on the very thin blue line at the very top, we would like to replace that with the name of the website (please refer to the screenshot if you are unsure of where the "thin blue line" is on the theme):
"The Traders Round Table"
Header Bar

2)Right below the thin blue line there is a header bar where there is an image of a man using a computer:
i) Remove the image of the man and leave the background of this section pale blue.
ii) Here we will set up the first "RSS News Reader Box" that will be labelled "Central Banks" and have the latest 8 headlines on the topic below:
The U.S. Federal Reserve;
(For more information on the RSS News Reader Box please refer to the appropriate section below)

The Right Column

3) Remove the column that is furthest to the right and extend the middle column to take up that space.

The Middle Column

4) At the very top of the midddle column we will have RSS news reader boxes. Please read on for further information on RSS News Reader Boxes

The Left Column

5)At the very top of the left column we will have email and feedburner options as described below:
Feedburneer and Email subscription

i) Install Feedburner button and ability to subscribe via email above the fold. Put email and RSS subscription boxes in the same position as on copyblogger.com I.e. the left sidebar above the fold:

ii) Copy the copyblogger style of email subscription box but adapt the text font and the colours to the sites colours

iii) Instead of the Subscribe text, and feedburner subscriber count chicklet simply put a large RSS button and the words “Subscribe via RSS” Get the big orange button from: http://www.toprankblog.com/tools/rss-buttons/

iv) Both the RSS button and email subscription must be linked to Feedburner's service.

6) Right below the feedburner and email options, we will have the navigation bar. We will create navigation links and also create the pages that these navigation links will link to as described below:
“Home” that links to the homepage: http://www.thetradersroundtable.com

“First time Here?” which links to the page “Welcome Page”: http://www.thetradersroundtable.com/welcome-page

“About” which links to “About the Traders Round Table”:

http://www.thetradersroundtable.com/about/

“Best Articles” which links to “Best Articles”:

http://www.thetradersroundtable.com/best-articles/

“Archives” which will eventually link to the “Archives” page ( http://www.thetradersroundtable.com/archives/) but derive its content from: Dagon Design Sitemap Generator v3.14 that's already installed on the blog. For an example of what this looks like please refer to the link below:

"Contact Us" which will eventually link to "Contact Us" page (http://www.thetradersroundtable.com/contact/) it will have a contact form that will link to an email address that I shall provide

The contact page will also display the contact email address of the site in the following format:
contact(at)thedomainname(dot)com

(Please refer to the screenshot for an example of a contact form)

Extra Features

7)Install Google Analytics code and Hit tail code that I shall provide in the footer.

8) Transfer the Related Posts plugin and make sure that a list of 5 related posts appears at the end of every single post but not in the homepage : http://wasabi.pbwiki.com/Related%20Entries

9) Teach us how to add "RSS feeds" to the RSS News Reader Box so that we can add news feeds and feeds from blogs as we might see fit in future.

Detailed Description of the RSS News Reader Box

DESIGN OF THE BOX

At the very top of the middle colum - which we are now extending into the right column which we will delete, we will have a blue bar that will extend from the beginning of the middle column all the way to the end of the column on the right.

This blue bar will have written on it the name of one of the five umbrella categories, like for example "Weather"

Below this blue bar we will subdivide the column horizontally into boxes of the same size and shape as one of the boxes on the left column- such as "Recent Posts "- on the theme preview.

Each one of these boxes will be designed as follows:
a) In underlined bold, it will have the name of the "sub-category" that its drawing RSS feeds from .e.g. Americas.
b) The box will then have the latest headlines within that category. These headlines will be automatically updated using RSS; use Google alerts for each of the terms that I have provided.

The fonts and colours of the RSS news feeds should match those of the blog theme.
CONTENT WITHIN THE BOXES

The content will be modelled on the site www.news.com.au/blogs/ in the following manner:
1) It will have the latest headline and then one paragraph of text.
2) This paragraph of text will be the first sentence of the latest news headline pulled by RSS.

SOME ADDITIONAL NOTES

The boxes will be arranged from the beginning of the middle column and moving right.
If the sub-categories are too many to fit along one horizontal line, we will drop down a line and begin adding additional boxes from the beginning of the middle column moving towards the right.

An important point to note about all RSS news feed boxes is we only want news from news websites and we don't want RSS feeds from blogs discussing these topic areas.

FINALLY

As what we are designing is rather new, we will take some time testing and tweaking to ensure that the RSS News Reader Boxes are designed in a manner that is pleasing to us and that is going to be useful for our readers.

SECOND SMALLER TASK

I would also like to transfer the content and the theme of my site, http://www.theblogforum.wordpress.com/ to my other website: http://www.theglobalblogforum.com/

Work Process

During the work process, feel free to ask any and all questions you may have about the bid request

Important: Once I have accepted your bid request, write me a detailed report where you outline:

a) Your understanding of what you are required to do to complete this job.

b) The steps you will take to complete this job.

It's important we do this so that we can clear up any misunderstandings and miscommunications and go through the job understanding what is needed to get the job done.

The job will be finished within 72 hours or less.
