Online bookstore required, but it must have some specific features (advanced search criteria facility recognising various factors to make a product selection using category, title, author, ISBN code, price range), above all the site must have an excellent and simple-to-use administration facility.
An off-the-shelf template-style website is no use to us, we need far more flexibility from a secure, e-commerce database site. We need to be able to upload images, product descriptions, price info and search criteria simply and quickly. The database of products (book titles) needs to be flexible, so categories and sub-categories can be added and deleted as required, and items can be hidden or displayed at 'the tick of a box' aswell as being added, edited or deleted via the administration site.
There needs to be an account registration facility, linking up to the shopping basket, checkout, secure payment facilities, using £GBP as the default currency. Accounts should have a yes/no deferral system whereby if the administrator manually flags/checks the account as a 'trade customer'. For any account flagged as a trade customer the checkout is bypassed once they submit their order (so trade customers can merely process their orders online but pay for them by their usual credit payment terms) and the 'order summary' is 'posted' onto the account record for the Administration to action when paid by other methods. Where an order is unpaid, it remains flagged for the Administrator. Any non-trade customer must go through checkout once they submit their order and pay online. A 'contact us' page, several e-mail links and a fully editable About Us page are also required.
We need an attractive all-round online bookstore that is flexible, so the owner/administrator has the control to change things right down to having a choice of the font style/font size/background colour of the web pages (ie. colour coding categories, special offers, etc).
