Sorry to go against the grain here... You don't need an 'Eye Catching' email... In fact, you need the opposite. Think about it... The more 'eye-catching' it is, the more it will be assiociated with 'publicity mail' and the more people will trash it right away, even before they read a single word! Think about when you go to the mail... what do you trash away immediately?... whatever looks for sure like an ad or a publicity... If your solution is true, say the truth and people will appreciate you for it. I mean... cutting power bills in half is 'in itself' a big promise. If it's potentially true... YOU D'ONT NEED EYE-CATCHING graphics. You need a sobre and serious feel to your email. You might ask.. 'What is the solution then?'. WORDS... People will react to your MESSAGE not you graphics... It does help if the email is clear, concise and straight to the point. But, by making it more 'personnal', i.e., like an email you would receive by a trusted source, you increase your chance of 'getting read' by your prospect and increase drammatically response rate. PS : What is your call-to-Action for this solution? Don't make it a gimmicky email (fancy graphics). Make it feel 'real', pro, useful AND personnal. That will get people to react.
