We have written a real estate investing book and would like a website to facilitate sale of the book. The goal is to have a professional, sharp site to support the sale of the book and give the impression that it is very professional (I have spent many years writing this book). However, the website should not be so fancy that the visitor feels that the website is trying to make up for the lack of quality in the book. This is a delicate balance.
The website should have the following:
1) A very professional and eye catching home page with links to the following:
a. About the writer and editor
b. Contact Us
c. Testimonials
d. Free Preview
e. A walkthrough of a deal (before and after)
f. Book recommendations – Amazon affiliate program
g. Blog – I’ll use one of the free blogs
h. Order Page
i. Should be able to take credit card info
ii. Record shipping instructions
iii. Save buyer info
i. A section for people who have bought the book – password required
i. Links
ii. Free downloads of excel files
iii. Additional sample of deals
On the right hand column, I would like a spot to link to 3 charities.
I would like it to be easy to update and add new pages. Can there be a control panel?
Could there be some fancy introduction to the website, using flash? I don’t want it to be memory intensive since that would increase the use of my bandwith, but I would like some cool intro. I was thinking it could be an ugly house and quickly load a bunch of pictures as the house transforms.
I do have a draft of the book cover if that will provide inspiration. It would be nice to incorporate it into the site.
I would be open to having a logo designed if it fits the idea of investments and paranoia.
We are open to hosting recommendations.
This book has been a labor of love and I want the website to look sharp. With a nice header, good colors and layout.
