Description

I need to manage a remote computer used to monitor a building. I need to automatically reboot Windows XP if a Verizon wireless card transmitting images has not successfully connected to the internet with a new dynamic IP address. I will need to shut down a video camera (Geovision) recording program first in order to do the reboot.

All of this will have to be done automatically on a regularly scheduled basis (1-2x per day).

Simply create a windows service which will check regularly the internet connection in background mode. This windows service will "ping" on internet, once it found time-out on certain time-frame, it will find out the application handler of video camera recording over Task Manager, trying to stop/kill it, and then reboot using shell-command such as shutdown command of Windows System. It is easy, even I am able to complete this within a few hours only.
