Description

This project should work in VB6

I want this small program to be able to allow me to query what colour a specific pixel is within the BMP file and access the header information inside the file as well.

Here's a sample of something similar to what I want to do :

DIM img_var as byte
loadimage ("c:filename.bmp", img_var)
colournum = getcolourfrombmp(img_var, xpos, ypos)
image_height = getimageinfo("height")
I want to access all information about an image - height, width, colour depth (1 bit monochrome etc)

Or similar - maybe use an object to access the image and details - so long as it's easy to use

You should include a sample program showing me how to use it

I am completely flexible as to how it is programmed.

I will be working with multiple images to it should be able to load and unload different images at will into a variable which can then be passed to the relevant sub routine.

This should take into account all types of BMP files (from 1 bit monochrome to 24 bit full colour images. It should handle the BMP file format flawlessly making sure that line padding is handled correctly.

Note - I dont want the image displaying in any way whatsoever - I just want to easily access the pixel colours at given locations so I can do my own processing on them.

I will retain full copyright on this program and can use it as I see fit including but not limited to giving it away free of charge or otherwise to anyone else who I want to.

I dont want ot start getting into graphics formats but need to access this information for something I'm working on. If you know and have worked with graphic formats then this job will be very easy for you to do and you have more than likely already got code to do the exact same job.

I would anticipate that this will take no more than a couple of hours including testing for someone who knows what they are doing - less if you're really good will pay upto $100 to get it done.

Note - if this routine also worked with JPEG / other image formats then that would only be better for me so if this can be easily added to it I am more likely to pick a winner based on this functionality.

Also one further note - the image should not be loaded into any kind of display object to extract the information - the file should be loaded into an array and the information extracted directly - I want this to be fast as it will be processing a lot of images.
