I have already done similar work - feature by feature. The program does a FTP backup to the server. And it allows to make differential backup, based on the CRC32. I would suggest that this type of Application be in C/C++ or Delphi, though I am equally comfortable with VB. Because backup is a mission critical, it is ideal that the application be in a language that does not depend on DLLs and has robust error handling.
