Description:	There are two parts to this VB.NET project: 1. Create a single form import program to translate data files into a SQL Server database table. The input data file might be XML, excel, text files delimited with tabs or commas, or a fixed length field text file. The files may or may not have a header. The import program must be able to smartly distinguish between these various types of file formats and do a "best guess" as to the proper field mapping. For example, an XML input file might map perfectly with the existing table schema, but a excel file without a header would be difficult. The ability to do manual mapping might ne necessary. The output will be to a SQL server database table. The UI will be a simple screen showing a preview of the first 6 or so records to be imported, and give the user the ability to map the input fields to the SQL fields. From this screen, the use could use a requester to choose the file to be imported and the destination SQL Server database. The table in the SQL server database will also be the same, but there will be different databases to import the file into. A HTML report listing the number of records imported successfully, the number that failed and a listing of the records that failed. 2. Create a .NET class data access layer for this table for inserts, updates, deletions and select. I will include a VB6 equivalent for the same table that would need to be converted to .NET. Access to the table for inserts and updates would use this class. Special requirements. Ability to transform dates correctly into mm/dd/yyyy Handle names properly. First Name, Last Name and Middle Initial could be three separate fields or it could be in one field that would have to be parsed. For example, John J Doe may come in as "Doe, John J" or as two fields, "JOHN J" "DOE" or as three fields, "John" "J" "Doe" Partial importing of demographic fields is allowed, but there will be a limited list of required fields that would be needed in order to allow on updated record. first name, last name, id, date of birth and sex. SQL compatibility down to SQL Server 7. (SQL 7 or SQL Server 2005 with compatibility lever set to 7) Development Environment shall be Visual Studio 2005 I will provide to you the following: 1) SQL Database table with update, insert, delete and select stored procedures. 2) A VB6 data access layer class that can be used to created the .NET equivalent.
