Description

my server just crashed after a power failure. i have debian etch installed on a dell box. i have raid 1 and raid 10 setup with lvm on it. the system doesnt mount files and starts in read only state. i am planning to back up the files with a live CD and then try to mount files with the lice CD. i havent done this before ...so i would need some help . i would like to guide me through the process so that i dont mess up my data.

Hello. The way I see it..there would be 2 choices for the matter at hand: 1) the system mounts files read-only..but it boots ok => if you can grant remote access then I can use "screen" so that you also see what I'm doing and I can explain the steps I'm taking in debugging the problem 2) we boot using a live cd and remount the lvm part and see what errors it gives and then investigate upon how to correct them Please let me know if I can provide my skills to your aid.
