Bid On This Project

Description

We are looking for a Systems Administrator with VirtualBox and CentOS 5.3 experience to install a server with CentOS 5.3 32-bit PAE, VirtualBox and create one WinXP guest server.

You must know how to install VirtualBox on a headless server and how to set up bridged networking between the guests.

The server uses the Tyan S2720-533 motherboard with two dual-core processors and 12GB of RAM. We have identical servers that already run CentOS 5.3 32-bit successfully. Note that PAE is used.

You must have experience with VirtualBox (especially headless installations and bridged networking) and CentOS and know how to install a WinXP guest. You don't need experience with Windows, other than installing the guest.

Please respond to this posting by telling us about your Systems Administration experience with CentOS and VirtualBox.

I'm a linux server administrator with experience on managing CentOS servers as well as virtualization with virtualbox as well as VMWare. Since youe server is quite powerful and has enough resources, I do recommend that rather than Virtualbox, you go for VMWare server. Virtualbox does have some memory issues and running it for long does make the system slow down. VMWare's web interface is excellent for managing the guests on headless servers and it has better support for USB and other harware.
