Description

I need a solid works model for an underwater housing design I have developed for a stereo beam splitter utilizing the new EPIC camera from RED.
Camera info: http://www.red.com/epic_scarlet/

The beam splitter uses a dielectric one way mirror at a fixed 45 degree angle to capture both left and right eye images.
My colleague has designed and built one for the larger RED ONE camera and it can be seen here:

I have the design penciled out.
I will also be able to provide solidworks models for some of the components inside the housing.

The idea is to have a completed design in solidworks that I can give to the machinists here in LA to build from.

Really nice idea and an interesting project. I have an experience in refractive and reflective optic design using TraceRT for SolidWorks. I designed a plenty lot of plastic based 3D designs in SolidWorks since 1998 (mostly medical end electronic cases) and can provide examples of my works. Modular principle using by RED cameras very impress me. For the bid cost I'll as well optimize the housing shape to reach maximal strength to weight ratio in ANSYS FEA package for 2 loads cases – underwater operation and impact of the ground. Housing shape will be suited to be produced using either LA or (if possible 3 axes milling equipment).

SW 3D model for housing of underwater camera. Does not include FEA analysis to make sure the housing will resist underwater pressure. Seals might be required to prevent water from entering the device. Customer to specify best material for manufacturing and provide guidance on design.
