Description

http://memorabilia.hardrock.com/

Check out the site above. We require a similar application that displays scanned images of engineering drawings.

Here’s some more info about our company.

What is “Intellectual Capital Recovery Corp.” [ICR-Corp]?

What we do is electronically crawl through the engineering records of manufacturing facilities (e.g. petroleum plants) and identify the assets (e.g. pumps, motors, tanks, etc.) that those records describe. Then we extract the list of assets that are contained in their active business and accounting databases. We reconcile the difference between these two sources of information and then work with the plant personnel to get the missing and incorrect information updated in their active business databases. We call our process ‘Asset Information Reconciliation’ (AIR). This is very tedious detailed work. However not doing this reconciliation process is currently costing refineries revenue, due to the inefficiencies in not having this asset information easily and readily available to plant personnel.

In short, because the people who fix plant equipment spend so much time looking for the information they need to fix things, they take longer to fix things and it both costs more to get things running again, and the plant is out of production longer and so the lost revenue is higher. What we do is get more information into their business system, so it’s easier to find, and so that the repair guys can be spending more time actually fixing stuff, and fixing it faster.

What we need is a system where resources will essentially be extracting information from technical documents and drawings that are viewable over the web, and placing that information into database forms on the same web-site. The work would need to performed in teams of two, where one person is viewing the scanned images of drawings and documents and highlighting the text [e.g. places a box around the text]. The second performs the data entry of the text that is highlighted. The teams will not need to have in depth technical knowledge, as the process that needs to be followed to extract the required information will be described in detail for each document type.

If you use the link above as an example:

1.User Zooms into a particular image

2.Place a box around some text in the image using a mouse.

3.Send to coordinates of the box and the file name of the drswing in the collection to an SQL Server 2005 database using a web service and create a record in a table using a stored procedure.

4.Pop-up a user entry form where the text in the box that has just been highlighted can be entered in.

5.Send to text that is entered using another web service and update the table record containing the coordinates using a stored procedure with the text found.

(Note that it is necessary for the boxes that have been drawn to highlight the text that has been selected has to be redrawn on top of the images. This means that the coordinates that have been stored in SQL Table needs to be read to redraw the boxes on top of the silverlight images, according the zoom level.)

6.Selection of any previous user drawn box retrieves the previous manually entered text plus the file name of the original drawing.
(the text is retrieved from the database table record corresponding to the coordinates of the selected box).

This is basic functionality that will need to be greatly enhanced over time. [e.g. there will be substantial ongoing work for proficient programmer(s)] Thus we are looking for more than one candidate who is prepared to provide a fixed price to demonstrate their ability to create the listed functionality. Follow-on work for successful candidates will paid on an hourly basis.

Interesting project. I would be glad to make it! I'm new here, on Freelancer, but have reach exp. (approximately 4 year on .NET and 2,5 years WPF and Silverlight) and several successful project in the past. One of them you can see here: http://82.144.209.27/Metalen login/pass: demo/demo
