Description

Christian Manuscript Editing Project

I am looking for an experienced Christian copy editor to do a final copy editing of my manuscript. The manuscript is more than 100,000 words in Microsoft Word format and English. If you can offer a fixed price for this project that would be great as well.

There are some things that need to be done to my manuscript to make it flow, making it much more readable, classy and professional.

Here are some list problems with my manuscript:
1) It’s quite long and uses more words than necessary to get my message across. Which is why it is so important to have it copy edited for length.
2) The word usage is somewhat awkward, especially in the first two-thirds of the book, and spelling and punctuation is problematic as well in many places. Use of plurals and tenses is awkward.
3) It doesn’t flow well in places, with short, rather choppy, convoluted sentences. There is also some repetition that could be eliminated.
4) I want a copy editor to tighten it up, eliminating wordiness and nailing my points and softening inflammatory wording.

Please provide a sample of your copy editing by editing the paragraph below, which is from my book. Please include the edited paragraph sample with your bid:

Original text:
Unlike my father's upbringing, my mom was required to at least graduate from high school. She mentioned how her father wanted all of his daughters to go to college, however, he would only be financially able to send one, and that was my Aunt Leona. On a positive note, Leona was able to send my youngest aunt, Madae to college.
When she left Gallion at age 19, she resided in Birmingham for a while and shortly afterwards she would move onto Chicago. She got a job as a maid, which was very common during that time. She would live with other relatives for a while. At the age of 20, she met my father, and shortly afterwards, she and my father married in August of 1961.
