Description:	Our company needs a web site built for one of our businesses. The business is a charter boat booking service. All bidders must supply examples of their work. Also bidders must be competent in English so that I can effectively communicate what I need done. Details of the job =========== Summary ------- We need a web site that is a searchable directory of all the boats we have. It will display a list of boats that meet the search criteria with a profile for each boat. Then the customer will submit an enquiry to us to see if it is available on the dates they want. We have the design already so this job will be for the html of the design, the backend, and the front end functionality. The site must be secure, and work on all major browsers on all platforms including Mac and Linux. Complete statistics must be tracked on almost every aspect of the site. For example the number of clicks on a particular boat, the number of times monthly specials and featured boats are displayed etc Detailed description ---------------- Home Page ................... I have attached an image of what the design looks like so that bidders can see what I am talking about. The home page will be dynamic and I must be able to edit the details from the back end. The dynamic components include - Featured Boats - Monthly Specials - News - Quick Search - Tip of the day I need to be able to control each of those from the back end. The featured boats and monthly specials need to be displayed randomly. So I will simply check a box on the boats profile to add it to the featured boats or monthly specials, and if it has a check it is displayed randomly. I will also need a feature that lets me ensure that a particular boat is displayed every time the page is displayed. I will also need to be able to control how many boats are displayed. I also need the tip of the day to be displayed randomly. I will control the tips on the backend and they will all display randomly however I will also need to be able to switch off the randomization feature so that only one tip is displayed. I need to be able to control the latest news section from the back end and I need to be able to control the number of news entries displayed, as well as add/edit/delete news articles. If a user clicks on a news article on the home page, it should take them to a page that has all of the historical news articles. The quick search feature is self explanatory. It will only have to parameters -location and -type of boat. The details and titles for the parameters need to be controlled from the back end and will be the same as the ones used on the detailed search page. Also the image attached does not show it but text and a link needs to be added to the quick search box that takes users to the detailed search page. Detailed Search Page .................. The search page will be an advanced search function allowing users to select where the boat is located, how far from a zip/postal code the boat is, the type of boat, the number of people it can carry, wether it is available on particular dates, wether the boat can be self driven, boat namer etc. It will also have the tip of the day displayed in a corner somewhere or at the top of the search criteria and may also have the monthly specials displayed across the bottom. In fact I would like to be able to select wether the monthly specials, or featured boats, or nothing is displayed. Once the search is executed a list of boat profiles will be displayed with some basic information like the name of the boat, a title, the size of the boat, the number of people it holds etc. The different categories of boats will display different data on the results page. Then when a user clicks on an actual boat it will display the boats full profile including photos, description, costs etc which I will go into detail about further down the page. It will also display a color coded calendar to say wether the boat is available on the requested dates. The other component on the profile page will be the Enquiry function where a customer will submit an enquiry to us to see wether the boat is available on the dates they want. It will be a basic form asking for contact details etc and the dates they want the boat. The enquiry will be stored on a page where staff can view it and reply. I want all of our communication with customers to be on a web page as opposed to emails similar to blog entries. Naturally when we reply to a customer the system will generate an email which is sent to the customer which will have a link to the communication page. And if the customer replies to the email address that our response came from instead of clicking on the link then the information will need to be taken from the email and added to the communication page. Each conversation with different customers will appear with the title on a single page similar to an inbox. So I can view the inbox, then click on the conversation and see the full history in the blog type format. Sign in page ................... This will be the page where users can create an account or sign in to an existing account. If they create a new account we will ask the usual contact details. Name, phone, email, etc. If they sign in they will see a control panel which will show things like - Message history with admin - favorites - Booked boats - Details of booking - Specials - Any payments that need to be made including a link to the payment details - Saved searches - Private Messages from other members Tools page .................. This page will have a few tools for customers including - Link to FAQ page - Link to Terms and Conditions - Favorites - Join/Create a group The last tool will be a system for members who want to go on a boat charter but do not have enough people to fill the boat. They can create a group and then book a boat. Users will first search for a group by location and type of boat and an optional date range. If a group exists they can join the group if it doesn't exist they can create a group. Once the group is created there will be a message board and regular updates on the latest info for the group. The group can also be saved and users can join / save multiple groups. The tools page will describe this feature but they will need to become members to use it. Boat Owners Page .......................... This page will be where boat owners will create an account and sign in. The owners control panel will have - Ability to add a boat -a list of the boats that they own which are already on the site. Naturally they will be able to see the profile for each boat by clicking. - Message history with admin - Booked boats with dates - Details of booking - Details of payments they should have received - Ability to make changes to their profile including rates, text etc. All changes are submitted and have to be approved by admin before changes happen on the site. - Ability to add more boats - Edit the calendar for their boat/s - Edit Contact details - Edit bank account details Contact Us Page ......................... Typical contact us page with a web form as well as email address, phone number, postal address etc Backend functionality .................................. I think most things have been covered above however there are some other things. Basically the staff need to be able to control and edit everything from the backend including -boat enquiries, -messages from owners and customers, - Manage the groups ie. Add, edit and delete them where necessary - Manage members - password resets, etc - Edit the terms and conditions - Display a page that has all of the monthly specials and featured boats A big part of the backend will be creating and managing profiles for the boats. There will need to be a section for customer data and a section for boat data. Because one customer may have many boats. So I need to see a list of all the boats a single customer owns. Now when I add a new boat I will need to have a series of details that MUST be entered. eg. Number of people the boat holds, minimum people for a booking, rate etc. I also need to be able to upload photos of the boat. The other thing I need on the backend is an internal search feature. I need to be able to search on boats like on the front end, only when the boats are displayed I need all the owners details, booked dates, and confidential information to also be displayed. Then when the search results appear, I need to be able to sort them by each of the different criteria. eg. Number of people it can hold, the rate, etc. This is so that if a customer wants to book a boat that is already booked, I can sort the list to find similar boats to offer to the customers. When I have the search results I need to also be able to remove boats from the results to narrow them down to suitable boats. I am pretty sure that covers what I need. As we progress I will see problems that need to be addressed so there may be a few minor changes or additions so bidders should be aware of that. If the successful bidder does a good job on this project I have plenty of CGI work to be done. I estimate about 6 months work.
