Description

The password reset feature of my forum is broken and needs to be repaired. The intended function is to allow for a user to have a forgotten password reset through a form after confirming their identity by matching an entered email address against the email stored in the user file which was originally used for registration. Then a new, randomly generated password is to be sent to the email address on file.

After the above is accomplished, the simpler task is to remove an outdated, IE only, Javascript based WYSIWYG textarea editor and replace it with a preselected, open source, cross browser compatible version. After the new textarea editor is integrated with the existing code, a nettlesome bug which causes users of a certain security level to experience posting difficulties can then be addressed.

The tasks that need to be completed are to get the password reset feature working, install a new textarea editor, and then correct a bug related to posting messages.

The files used by the forum were authored back in 2002 and are very unconventional. Data is stored in flat text files as opposed to a relational database, but I will work with you, answer your questions, and be able to direct you to the directory locations, scripts and templates that require attention. The server is running FreeBSD and ssh access will be provided, but first your ip address will have to be added to the ssh firewall access list. If you are confident in your Perl/CGI/Shell scripting abilities, the tasks outlined in this small project should not take long to complete, nor should they pose dramatic difficulties. If all goes well, your services may be retained, as long-term projects of larger scope are sure to come up in the future due to the age and inefficiency of these old files.

Please note, I work best with individuals who are generally laid-back and liberal minded like myself. Priority consideration will be given to bidders who can begin the project soon. Should your bid be selected, and you do not accept the offer within the hour, the project will be reopened to bidding again. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation!

This is my rough estimation of the time, the password function may not take long, not sure about the javascript depend on the javascript text area replacement being used. Thanks Luckie
