Description

Customized video sharing site. Not a YouTube clone.

USER FUNCTIONALITY:
Submit/upload short films (+ necessary conversion of uploaded video, e.g. to flash video)
View/playback short films (+ flash video player)
Player code can be embedded on other websites
Rate films
Comment on films
Bookmark films with social networking sites
Search films (search capability, ability to sort, and display films with selected attributes)
Very basic “My account” user functionality – list of favorites, personal information, films submitted
RSS feed for films
Contact Us form
User login/registration with spam handling/captcha forms
Integration of the main website with an off-the-shelf bulletin board/BBS (e.g., preferably phpBB, or possibly vBulletin)
Login/Registration functionality must be linked between the website and the BBS. For example, if you are logged into the BBS, you are logged into the site; if you are logged into the site, you are logged into the BBS.

SMTP/EMAIL FUNCTIONALITY: to facilitate/manage sending of automated, event-triggered emails: confirm user registration, film submission confirmation, film submission approval, email to friend (emailing film link to users), forgotten passwords, and contact us.

ADMINISTRATOR FUNCTIONALITY:
Film database management interface (create/read/update/delete film database and data) and monitor queue of incoming films to approve for publishing/viewing and handling of bad/spam submissions.
User Management interface (create/read/update/delete user data)
Content Management System (CMS), WYSIWYG editor to add/update/delete website page content
Integration of basic newsletter/mailing list management (e.g., PHPList)
Backup scripts/tool to automatically back-up data on a regular basis
Basic reporting on films/film submission statistics
Administrator interface should be developed for users with minimal technical experience
