Finding the problem within the system will require profiling the server, which you do not mention if it's UNIX, Linux or Windows (major differences between all) and then trying to find if there's a way to make the code more efficient, if possible - you may just be overloading what you've got. I've optimized many systems, for example: http://pheedo.com, and you've got to be prepared that it could be that your system just doesn't have the CPU, bus speed, or needs more memory and/or faster/bigger hard drives. That said if it's Linux or UNIX and I can get proper access I can profile your system, which I'm an expert at, over 20 years of experience, and find out where the bottleneck is, and then see if there's any way to improve the code or if you need a hardware upgrade, which I'll be blunt with you: that's more than 50% of the cases.
