Description

Flash streaming server with the ability to stream live video from anywhere in the world to our servers for streaming on the net… We have most of the server technology needed, servers, FM3, Red5, MySql db, but need the front-end setup. i.e ustream.tv / justin.tv / live.yahoo.com. We are also willing to purchase additional technology if necessary such as load balancing services, additoinal servers, etc.

We would like to see this website be build in Drupal, but we'd also accept if you would like to use Ruby on Rails, or one of our scripts like SocialEngine.

A user who is Broadcasting
-------------------
A user should be able to signin or register, setup a new broadcast (which creates a unique URL ... userschannelname.ourdomain.com/mybroadcastname) and select on of their local video devices (webcam, tv card, etc). Then they could share that broadcast URL which is a page showing the video stream, all attendees, comments area, recording area, and a video stream buffer. Once a broadcast has stopped, the URL is still saved, with all comments and recordings, but the video stream is no longer available. A broadcast URL can be public or private (just means it's not discoverable as a listed broadcast), or user restricted.

In addition to that, a broadcasting user should also be able to do everything that a watching user can do:

A user who is Watching

A user needs to signin to watch a broadcast URL... no matter if it's public, private or user restricted. A watching user should be able to watch (in regular size, or full screen) the video stream, comment on the video stream page (AJAX, no page refreshes to see the updated comments), record a stream, and use the video stream buffer (can rewind and fastforward the full length of the broadcast).

This would realistically require:

-one FMS player (or an adjustment to our current flash player)
-one FMS broadcasting flash program (accesses the computer's video input devices, ex: webcam)
-new Drupal / Ruby build with some modified PHP Pages.

Needs to have new backend control panel (controlling all functions, features, designs, membership, content, etc) or an addition to our current one (up to you... we are pretty flexible). The website should have a backend admin page that will allow me to change the bitrate of the video/audio transfer, so that if I need to accomodate more users, I can decrease bandwidth. We should also be able to easily place ads or related links into the pages.

Schematics and visual art will be provided by our company. We will not be able to make these available until after the bid is accepted for legal reasons, but rest assured you have dedicated information architects and visual designer working at your behest to give you UI guidence and final visual art.

This project is phase 1 and will likely have an enhancements project following this work.
