Description

The purpose of the site is to enable customers to design their own wedding stationery online. They will be able to choose products, pick from backgrounds and graphic elements with configurable colour options, add them to a ‘lightbox’ (wishlist) facility, then, position and add their own text in an interactive design area. They will also be able to view, personalise and buy readymade products designed by both our company and outside designers.

There should be a clear backend workflow that will require your input.
1.The customer designs their cards and uses initials to confirm order and online instant proof.
2. Each order should be checked by a designer and should therefore be in editable format (pdf would be best as then workflow can continue with pdf being sent directly to printers)
3. Customer account area should show status of their order.

Each graphic element or readymade product by an outside designer should have a value attached in the admin area which would enable an automatic total of how much money they are owed, along with a detailed breakdown of what designs they have sold, on a monthly basis.

The interactive design area will require your input. I would prefer not to use flash but will be advised. Websites with similar functions are:
www.poobies.com
www.moo.com
www.spreadshirt.com

Alongside the ecommerce, the site should provide some static content pages. As well as the standard “about us”, “delivery”, “terms and conditions”, there will also be content pages for approx 15 products. These are likely to be one standard layout with differing content. These pages will show pictures and how to buy cards, ideas and examples of what other customers have made, and will have links to a Flickr group and a Ning community.

There will also be a blog that should be capable of significant searching, tagging and archiving.

The design of the site will be a top one layer navigation, with mostly 2 column pages that have products on the left and links or other modules on the right.
I would initially like there to be NO styling/css on the site to assess simple functionality.

Ultimately, the site must be very easy to use and intuitive to customer’s needs. Much user testing will be carried out to ensure this.

This will be a full time project and will require excellent communication and flexibility. There will initially be no styling required to the site, only functionality. I will look to hire an individual with outstanding coding experience and skills, or a company with a proven track record in this type of site. You must prove that you have read and understood the detailed specification, as I will be expecting an in depth discussion on which packages would be best to use and why, along with a clear explanation of how you envisage the usability of the design area.
