Description

Hello,

we have a GSM Gateway (PORtech MV-370) what we use with our
asterisk to connect to GSM networks. Phone calls are working,
you have nothing to do here.

It is possible to connect to this box via telnet
and to talk with the GSM Modem like over serial
connection through AT Commands.

What we want to do:
- Send SMS Messages
- Receive SMS Messages
- Send (and read the answers) of USSD service
(for example when you press *100# on your
phone to check account balance)

I guess the easiest is the USSD service.

Sending/Receiving SMS Messages (and delivery reports)
need to be in the PDU format. See a small example:
http://rednaxela.net/pdu.php

Here are already ready2run PHP PDU converter existing.

What you have primary to do:

Connect to the box over telnet and talk with the
gsm modem through standard AT Commands. Our main
problem was, to find a "stable" and good telnet
class. As when the modem gets corrupt input, it
may hang up, what would destroy the stability.

For a person which knows how telnet in php is
stable, can submit commands and read their answers
and has ability to find a good PDU converter,
it should be an very easy job.

Cheers,
Sven

Don't use PHP Telnet class, but use PHP Shell Class. Then, the telnet will run under Shell environment. So, whenever there is something broken it wont break the Shell it's self, but we can simply destroy the telnet. That's it.
