FOMDB.com recreations draft:

Design: We are looking to make FOMDB.com look a lot more professional. We are open to new design layouts; however we would like to go with themes that keep the environment movie friendly. Typically this is a darker setting, but not too dark. Our ads are conveniently placed around the website and we would like to include the same amount of ads for the new site. Users who submit their ad code should be allowed to display there ad on the page of the video they have submitted (maybe a standard banner above the video?)


Fomdb.com is looking to become the leading online video website for internet users to go through. Fomdb is different from other online video websites because we do not actually host any videos. Users can submit a movie to our database with only the url that points to the video. Then the video should be automatically generated on the website.

Inside the users account they should be able to update personal info, manage their videos (remove, or add into a folder to properly organize certain videos) receive and send messages to other users, create playlists, ect.

Our home page should be designed with the amenities that include: popular videos, recently added videos, categories (for browsing, subcategories should be available in each category if needed), news or announcements, search ability, our mission statement, ads, featured video (or trailers we decide), and anything you think should also be included.

A help section needs to be included.

A forum is also desired.

Candy shop: We like the idea of keeping the Candy shop and we also like your idea of making it more interactive by allowing users to buy candy while watching a video. Also, a way for the users to stand out amongst other users when they have donated.

The video display pages that you included in your portfolio look fantastic. Also the video browsing pages (when people browse through videos in the respected categories) looked good as well. I think channels are a great way to keep the videos organized.

We need to make sure that there is a way for people to flag our videos as inappropriate or illegal. We have to be able to take down any videos that violate the law.

We need a terms of use page, privacy notice page, community guidelines page, contact us page, and advertise with us page.

We had a long discussion on the video submit issue. I have listed the sites at the top of the draft that limit the sites users can submit. We deem these websites to be the biggest and have the most users therefore we want to include them in the form. We would like our users to be able to input all the necessary information for the video and submit the URL of the video, and then we generate a page with that video embedded (with the respected video player of the original website so we do not violate anyone’s TOS). The form should accommodate many parts of a video since some videos are broken up into many parts on youtube (and other sites) this way we can display the whole video on one page. We also talked about the auto-loading feature of future parts so users can watch videos seamlessly and those videos would be displayed in the same page when it is time to change parts.

I assume that all of this will be able to be maintained through an administrator interface of some kind?

If there is any more features you think we have missed that need to be included please let us know. We want to establish a working relationship with the person who does the programming so when we want to implement changes and add things on in the future we can go to the source person who knows the site the best. We look forward to talking with you further.
