Description

I need somebody who knows how lighttpd (lighty) - lighttpd.net working and how to create patch/mod for lighttpd who will allow me to count file downloads that 100% finished...

In this moment I using php script to authorize users and to check is some file exist on my server and if all OK with X-LIGHTTPD-send-file header (http://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/1/wiki/X-LIGHTTPD-send-file) I sending that file to user as static file...this all working great but on this way I can`t count file downloads that 100% finished...

I know that I can create php script who will send data (file) to user but that killing server and working very bad...

Will be good if can exist one more header in who I`ll set who script lighttpd must call if file download 100% finished and on that way I can count downloads...maybe you can create it on better way, this is only one idea...

I hope that you can understand my problem, if you have any question please ask...

Thanks.

Simply modify the code based x-accel-redirect of nginx http server. This headers works like x-httpd-send-file but with the download event capabilities (for completed download, breaking download, browser closed, etc). We could modify the lighthttpd code based on this header.

Do you use log files? log file of lighttpd is quite similar to apache, it has detail information. You will need customized log file configuration to expose download information and a log parser to extract data from it. Please check PM for more detail

Hello, i'm programmer from France. I can modify lighttpd source code to save 'download complete' events (on a certain file) in a text or binary file. I use C and C++ but i haven't used lighttpd a lot, i will need some time to read source code.

Shouldn't be hard to do. I've worked with code from projects with similar ideas of clean code before. How about logging completed downloads of files matching a pattern, and then a script/syslog configuration to put that information where you want? Alternately, listing a script in the config file would also be straightforward. I would avoid passing the name of the script through the client, however, as that would require significant care to not be a security risk, and tracking by filename is probably sufficient.

I worked with lighttpd sources several times, the job itself isn't hard, but needs alot of routine work - full three days +- day.

All you need is to record the complete-downloaded count. This is easy, i have demo php code.
