The bug your crawler has most likely experienced was YouTube blocking it by asking for a captcha (image verification) form. I have done what you are asking for before although for a different purpose.

All I have to do is read your table, find all records missing info, then for each record check youtube for the missing info, and then update the table.. then move on to the next record.. I would just require the current script to see how it was written, I may want to update that as well, otherwise you will not solve the root of the problem.
