Description

A simple web application was developed to allow users to upload jpeg image
files that are resized and then displayed as a collection. The photos are
resized to a width of 50 px and maintains the aspect ratio when resized.
The photos are saved on a server that are publicly accessible via the
Internet. Additionally, the filenames of the image files are stored in a
mySQL database. The small web application currently consists of a couple
of web pages, programmed in PHP and utilize JavaScript and Flash.

The photos are displayed in a collection using JavaScript. This allows the
current function of scrolling the images within the main page of the
application.

The additional functionality is to give the user, when viewing the
collection of scrolling photos, the ability to use the mouse and "shoot"
each photo by clicking on it. The result will be some sort of animated
explosion on the shot photo and will result in a damaged photo. Due this
additional functionality, something more graphically capable than
JavaScript is required, such as Flash.

The main consideration is that the web application will be embedded in
various web pages on the Internet and therefore the Flash developer cannot
assume the web application will be called from the same server as the
photos. A user, for example, can embed the calling JavaScript code on
their My Space page.

The objective is to replace the current JavaScript image scroller with one
that allows the user to interact in the manner described above.
