Description

We have developed an ecommerce site that seems to perform inconsistently.

When we created out site, adding products to the shopping cart was almost an instantaneous thing.
Then a few days after uploading the files to the hosting company servers, our site became impossibly slow (to the point that it seemed unable to add products to the cart). Now, after about 2 weeks, the site seems to be operating once again at normal speed.

Another baffling thing is that we purchased service with another hosting site with a dedicated server but after moving the files to the dedicated server, the Virtuemart performance was also very slow on the dedicated server. I checked the VM configuration, and it seems to be set up correctly.

I would need to someone to look at the site and tell me whether everything is set up correctly or is there anything that we have overlooked and can do to make it faster or, more correctly stated: I need someone to make sure that the site and shopping cart are optimized for maximum speed and will not go back to being slow. I will also need this person to provide me a checklist of the things that were checked and to watch for when setting up and optimizing Virtuemart, so that the errors are not repeated on our next site.


Finally, I also need to have the UPS shipping module correctly set up for all packages, which will be weighing 1 pound (only one shipping rate).
