Description

U.S. Partnership Looking for Javascript, PHP programmer for MMORPG browser game. Must have experience in programming php and javascript, and have played various browser games - fallensword, ogame, ikariam, runescape, magicduel, tactics arena, weewar, or others.

The game is called Ragnarok and based upon the folklore of Germanic heathenism / pre-christian Norse Mythology - some info can be found at http://pantheon.org/areas/mythology/europe/norse/articles.html

Several people are already at work on game design and mechanics, and we also have several backup programmers and contract programmers. We are looking for 1-2 more programmers for game development.

The game will be similar to fallensword and magicduel in that there will be levels, experience, equipment for each character, different moves for each character. Play will be more like tactics arena, or weewar, in that pieces will be moved around on the battleground and that most play will be turn based. There will be player ranking systems based upon wins/losses. Some other games which may have some similarities are Shining Force, Ultima Online.

The game will eventually have several types of battles, 1 v 1, Team, Alliance.

This project does not pay a fixed amount. We are seeking partners who will ultimately receive a share of all profits once the game is up and running. You will not be required to invest in the project, only to assist in design, development, and programming of the game. We currently have our own servers, and the game will be served up from an Ubuntu Linux LAMP box.

The potential for browser games is huge. Because these are games that people can play at work, a large amount of the players have steady jobs, meaning they can afford to pay for upgrades to their characters and accounts. Successful examples of browser games are fallensword, runescape, ogame. These are proven successful games which bring in hundreds of thousands every year to the teams that design them. What we are seeking is relationships with programmers which will make you part of our team, and this game would be just the beginning.
