Description

Dear Coders,

We would like to create our own mapping/geocode engine, with the possible use of:

1) Mapserver (from mapserver.org)
2) Openlayer (from openlayers.org, which will allow the adding of new maps)

and import maps information from
1) a few set of MapInfo data files (it will be provided)
2) openstreetmap planet files

with the ability to update its geocode table from public 3rd party map providers such as
1) google
2) other maps, such as 51ditu or any others

There is a library that allow access to mapinfo, which may be of use from http://mitab.maptools.org/

You must also provide a set of API to pull map data from Mapserver (i know they have it already, but just give us a few examples for their functions)

When a X,Y coordinate is parse into MapServer, it should return us a road name from our local database 1st, if its not available, it will request from the 3rd party maps and write the info into our local database. It should also randomly do a request check that the reverse geocode road information is the same as our local, else request from administrator which one to use.

At the end, its 1 geocode table, multiple maps.

Coder should present a diagram to show that they fully grasp what is required. This is a simple project if you know how its done.

Best Regards,
YJCHIA

Dear Guys,

Due to the highly related correlation of:
GeoServer
OpenLayers
GeoWebCache

If you have experience in them, please inform how they work hand in hand.

We have our own management System to interface with google at the mean time, the purpose of this project is to create our own Geo Server to support our system.

Please advise,
Regards,
Aston

Just to add, our current platform is using the LAMP architecture. I am sure php is able to interface with geoserver, so will openlayers.

we have worked on Google Map, Map Server and Geo Server for rendering Map. we can configure the MAP view for any city(data provided by you) and can display the road name on x,y coordinates. With the Best Experience in fleet management system Application, we can provide you the best solution. Geo server is much better and faster that mapserver and the same map data can be used for both the servers.
