Description

OBJECTIVE: create an Instant Message autoresponder.

DEVELOPMENT: No specific language or platform is required. Java, C++, .NET, PHP are all possible. I have existing enterprise-level linux boxes where the software can be deployed, or I can buy Windows boxes if necessary. Project should be completed using a 2 stage development process.

STAGE 1: CORE FUNCTIONALITY:

1. auto-add users who contact me
2. respond with one message, then stop - even if the user sends additional messages.
3. time-delay for autoreply
4. supports unlimited connections; must be stable at 20,000+ daily messages
5. supports Yahoo IM, AOL, or MSN messenger clients (all or just one)
6. robust enough to handle 500+ incoming "friend requests" per hour and 1000+ outgoing messages per hour

STAGE 2: ADVANCED FUNCTIONALITY:

1. define X number of preset responses;

for example, I can specify 1 response, 2 responses, etc and configure each response. If I specify 1 response, then this would happen:
[user] says: "hi"
I say: "hello"
[user] says: "whats up?"
and here the conversation ends, I send no more replies.

Whereas if I had specified "2" responses, the conversation would look like:
[user] says: "hi"
I say: "hello"
[user] says: "whats up?"
I say: "the sky"

2. keyword-based responses

filter incoming message for keyword; send pre-set template response based on keyword in message

3. user macros for randomization:

I can define macros in my preset responses. For example, response #1 may look like this:
~hello~ ~howareyou~
and then I would define the following macros for those terms:
~hello~ [hi, hello, hey, heya]
~howareyou~ [how are you, hows it going, whats up?]
This increases randomaization of each message

4. send outbound messaging to all users on my contact list

5. supports unlimited bots

For example; I load in a list of 500 AIM usernames/passwords. They are all active and 'listening' at the same time,
ready to respond to users who message them.

6. individual responses for each bot

For each individual bot (username), I can set unique pre-programmed responses. If you message 'happygirl' you get a different response than if you message 'cutiegirl', etc.

7. If possible, supports most major Instant Messengers, including: AOL, YIM, MSN, ICQ, SKype; possibly through Miranda IM or some other 'all in one' client

8. bots develiver GEO targeted responses by plugging into my system's SOAP API and querying the relevant data

Hi! Very interested in your project. Have experience with Yahoo (take a look at this project awarded to me: http://www.elance.com/projects/409116.html - unfourtenetely, buyer just disappeared and left me without a payment, so I have all rights to use code developed for that project). Can implement all other protocols, the only protocol I am not sure about is skype. However, please contact in the PMB if you are interested and I will do a research. The platform will be linux or any other POSIX compatible UNIX platform. Best Regards, Zeke

stage 1: yahoo and msn i allready have done using php.. to save messages, auto-reply, add to list i'm 99% sure aol can be done too.. how many messages/hour ym, msn, aol accepts i don;t realy know.. never tested. ym i know will go only about 5000 users after can't add any more, just receive from other ans send to oter without auto-reply, but we ccould save the others in a dbf.. i have done a bot-like for YM and outlook on windows based.. but it is too much work if to upgrade later the system... so i would say a php based one is easyer for step 2 of your project. step 2 is 5-10 days tops...

What you would get: Phase 1 1. A windows Service Application that would actually be the BOT. 2. A Desktop App that would act as the instrumentation of the service (start, stop, manage...) I would try to target all IM types (MS Mess,AIM, etc) Phase 2 Your Parser Engine. It would probably only reach G1 grammer capability (parse simple sentences) and respond as appropriate. If you really want to get cute with it, we could add some kind of Scripting environment (VSTA comes to mind) at a later date and for extra charge.

Hey i'm daniel and new to this site but i already got a great profile at rentacoder (Ranked #609 out of 257,801 (higher than 99.76% of their peers)! Anyways I have no idea what the other guys are up to, but you will definitely fail with a php solution or tomcat implementations. What we need is a standalone server application that will have built in clients that are permanently connected to the IM networks. Additionally they will have the autoresponder that will listen to incoming messages and react accordingly to the configuration. (No matter if keyword based reactions, react just once, ...) I'd say we make the thing configurable directly through the IM client by simply chatting the commands from a whitelisted admin contact. Lets get the thing going, its not that hard! We will have it done by 12 days, probably even quicker.
