Description

We run a site that provides daily newsletters about the stock market to paid subscribers. We are looking to update our online subscription ordering system to make it more automated and efficient. Below is a summary of how it currently works, followed by a summary of changes we would like to see:

PRESENT SETUP:

*Customer clicks on a signup page.

*They fill in personal details, indicate which service they would like to subscribe to, enter billing details, then hit the "submit" button on the page.

*One problem with this method is that they need to sign up multiple times if they want more than one of our services, as our site is not designed to let them select multiple services the first time they order.

*Upon submitting their details, they are automatically emailed a receipt from Authorize.net, the gateway between our website and Wells Fargo, our bank that processes merchant credit card orders.

*We then MANUALLY need to set them up in our client database (mySQL), assign them a user name and password to log into the "members only" access area of our site, and then manually send them an e-mail to confirm they have been set up for access to our site.

*When sending our daily newsletters each morning, we enter the HTML code into a page, which then uses a script to send the newsletter to all the subscribers on that mySQL database.

While the above system works okay, we've found it's not very efficient, as it requires a lot of manual processing that we know can now be automated. It's also bad for the customer because they do not INSTANTLY get assigned a user name and password to access the site. Also, we need to modify the ordering process so that the client can easily order any combination of our services at one time (rather than just one at a time). Below are details of how we'd like to see it work:

NEW SETUP:

*Customer clicks on signup page.

*They fill in personal details, then are presented with the ability to customize their subscription by signing up for ANY combination of our newsletters (through pop-up menu, check boxes, radio buttons, etc.). They will then receive a discounted price, depending on how many services they sign up for. After filling in billing details, they hit the "submit" button.

*From here, we would like it to be automated where they not only receive a receipt of their transaction, but also are instantly assigned a username and password for accessing the "members only" part of our site. The customer would somehow need to be automatically added to our database, so we would need to have the capability to log in and cancel their automated monthly billing subscription for non-payment or cancellation on their behalf.

*When newsletter is sent in the morning, it would automatically include the newly joined subscribers. Note that I also would like to update our content management system so that it automatically archives each day's issue for viewing in the client access area.

Here are some technical details about our current website:

* Dedicated server running Windows Server 2003.
* Using Plesk Control Panel.
* Running mySQL and MSSQL.
* Using .NET
* Using ASP

If I'm leaving any important technical details out, just ask me any questions. I'm not a programmer, but have a decent understanding of the workings of our company's website.

Please provide details about any ideas you would have to accomplish the above, and I will provide you with the website URL if interested in possibly selecting you for the job. If selected, 50% of payment will be provided upfront, the rest upon successful completion.

Thanks for bidding.
