Local Diner Finder:First off, I don’t care what programming you want to use to do this so share with me what you are planning on using. I just picked a few I thought might be popular. My server is a Linux and setup with mysql and php amongst many other things like video drivers in the cpanel, etc.
SUMMARY:
A site where visitors can look for a economical and local place to eat.
For instance if I live in Los Angeles, CA and it’s Lunch Time Thursday, I can pick that criteria and find all restaurants offering special deals on that given day. If wanted, I could narrow my search to the type of food and if it’s a sit down restaurant, fast food or deli.
This should be made very simple to use. I came up with the idea as I realized that whether it be breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner especially when you are in your own city, you often get tired of eating at the same places all the time and everyone starts saying they don’t care where they eat, they just want something inexpensive. Most all our local restaurants had specials on different days of the week, coupons, or specials during specific times of the day. I thought if I had a database of this it would help resolve the question where to eat for the day in most cases and know I’m not the only one with that question. This site would help resolve that question of “Where to eat today?”.
FROM THE BEGINNING FRONT PAGE:
The only other thing seen from the front side other than an easy search for special deals on the day I am looking for, is a membership enrollment. This would include three different member types.
1. Restaurants - which I have confirmed as a valid food location will be given full rights to post as many ads as they want when they have specials and in this should be a date utility that kills the ad when the sale ends. On the front end it should show the visitor if the special has a expiration date such as only valid from 09/01/2009 – 10/01/2009 in red print. One image should be allowed for restaurant owners.
2. Consumers – whom can opt-in for free emails of specials in areas they select ie. City and State, etc. A email utility should be built for this. They can opt-out of receiving emails too but are trusted sources to post specials for restaurants. The admin should have a black list button to kill anyone from ever posting again by banning their IP address if I find to many violations. Every ad period should have a “report inappropriate content” and “Sale not valid anymore” button so from within the admin I can review reports and keep the data up to date by contacting the restaurants myself.
3. Un-Registered Member – Should be allowed for people who just don’t want to register at all but just quickly and in a very fast format share information of special offers by food courts etc. As with “all of the above” a location name, address and phone number is needed and I can always verify the information manually to confirm the info. Again, a black list to kill IP addresses who abuse this resource should be made available within the admin.
FINALLY:
When looking at any given ad, it should be URL SEO Friendly such as the majority of the title being seen in the url rather than a SID number. A map solution should be made available for each ad and a printable coupon should be made available for all visitors for specials to our members only. This can be done by membership #1 restaurant owners where they can opt to upload a coupon image if they want and can be downloaded and printed by any visitor.
I also want a fully functional banner admin so I can sell banner space to diners.
