I am experienceing the EXACT same problem, where new customers suddenly find themselves presented with an empty cart on checkout. I believe this to be a session related problem. I need someone who has experience of this exact problem, as all configuration setting have been double checked and are correct. The steps shown in the thread shown above have all been carried out, yet the problem persists.

The problem only seems to happen occasionally. In the last week I had 2 customers phone their orders through because of this problem. I also had a number of test orders sent through the site over the weekend, only one of these threw up the problem. It seems to be completely random. My worry is that for every 2 customers who do phone their order through, 50 probably don't and simply go elsewhere. In view of the fact that it is a random problem, I would need a pm to confirm exactly what the problem was to enable me to close the project and make payment.
