Description

We need a .Net class that disables a particular Sound Output Device in Windows Vista. The senario is this. We are using a bluetooth headset in our application, but only using the microphone input. When the Bluetoooth headset connects, the default player and recorder devices switch to the headset. In Vista, to avoid this, once the headset is connected the first time, you can disable the "Bluetooth Speaker" device and the sound ouput switches back to the original player device. When the headset reconnects, only the microphone is switched to the headset and the sound ouput remains on the default output device.

We simply need a class that automates this so that we do not have to tell our users to do it. Maybe with UI automation? Maybe some other method? The deliverable will be an .Net project that enumerates the player devices in a text box, allows the user to select the desired device to disable, then a button that disables it.

Hi joe, For enumerating Playback Device, you could use DirectShow.NET library managed from your C# code. But, for disabling Playback Device, we could use Win32 API. This can be implemented for setting Playback Device default also. What version of C# you prefer? I will be able for 2005 or 2008. Let me know, Pepelegi
