Description

BIND is linux based DNS server application, i would like to filter user queries made to the DNS server from specific user (user can be identified by their public/private ip address), and forward it to the specified URL, for details check the example below

Scenario of the example
DNS Server IP : 10.10.10.1
User PC IP: 10.10.10.2

User with the ip address 10.10.10.2 make an request through web browser to domain www.yahoo.com, and then browser forward request to the DNS server(10.10.10.2) as the ip address is specified in the user computer to resolve the domain names, and then DNS server receives the request check for the domain in blacklist database, if the requested domain is specified in the database then the user is forwarded to the specified IP /URL, and if the requested domain is not listed in blacklist database then the DNS request will be sent to the Specified DNS server in the BIND, that can be root DNS server for further resolution.

Good day! I can perform the work which is required by you using one Linux box. There are some ways to do it. If your task is only about to redirect http requests to another destination, that is the simplest way with using squid proxy (squidquard) substitution of headers. The user will not guess at all that it not on that server. But if you want to redirect all IP traffic (ftp, pop/imap, smtp etc) to destination domain(s), that will be more difficult way, probably, for 1-2 days longer. But all problems will be solved. I have a decent experience as ISP server's administrator. Many non-standard problems, similar to yours, have been solved during last 10 years. Just write me, please!

I can provide this by muxing Bind to dlz patches (which make Bind operate with MySQL). But I have different scenarios for this and implied questions : 1/ Make all DNS resolutions thrue this service - Would you need per User/IP blacklist or is it share ? 2/ Operate on the http proxy. Both solutions are viable, but the second one can trouble users if anything other than HTTP is done. But it doesn't make non-user queries (automatic scripts ...) sensible to this. I propose to make available a web interface on which you can manage blacklists by type of blacklist. For example 1. Games worldofwarcraft.* seriousam.com 2. Search engines bing.com The idea is to associate blacklists to users or to group of users.
