Dear Mindsense, researching the domain owner is quick and easy but pursuing the case through the anti-cybersquatting procedure is not, so my bid is an estimate subject to revision when more details are available. I am not a lawyer; however, I've had many years of experience drafting contract language and related correspondence. I was also a member of ICANN back in the days when it allowed the Internet-using public a role in electing its board and adopting its rules, and have followed later developments closely. Relevant issues here would be whether your product name was trademarked, which body administers the domain extension, the laws of the country where you and the cybersquatter are located, and whether you would consider negotiating with him/her for transfer of the domain. My $250 bid would cover the research and either initiating negotiations for the transfer or preparation of the initial paperwork for an anti-cybersquatting claim. The "250 days" is merely an indication that such claims proceed at the pleasure of the relevant authorities and not at the pace we ordinary mortals would prefer.
